Day 4

Not too much to report on today. Liam and Elle were exhausted, and both needed rest/sleep, so we took it easy this morning. In the afternoon we took the Star Ferry across to Hong Kong island, and Justin finally found his shopping groove, I still have not. We were very near Victoria Park which was hosting the Hong Kong Flower Show and as everyone else in Hong Kong seemed headed there, we decided to check it out ourselves.
Victoria Park itself was quite nice, a much needed green space in the midst of the mayhem. The flower show was a strange mob scene. I just didn't get it... I expected the flowers to be outrageously beautiful, but they were mediocre at best and downright cheesy at worst. It seemed that at least a million people were crammed into the park area and each one of them had a large professional grade camera. They were photographing each flower display with such intensity, we found ourselves looking at the photographers and not at the flowers. Suddenly, I found the cameras turned on me (ok, on Liam) and for a solid 5-10 minutes people took turns taking his picture. The whole scene was really odd and we ducked out as quickly as we could. We were relieved to find a taxi willing to drive across to Kowloon, and we didn't even mind the dead stopped traffic, so relieved we were to be sitting and away from the mass of humanity.
Ugh, Hong Kong is tiring. And grey, still.
